Team MLE's Fall Favorites

Fall is easily team MLE’s favorite season. The crisp air, changing leaves, incredible textures, and gorgeous color palettes we get to work with have us wishing this time of year would last just a little bit longer. So today, we’re reveling in the beauty of the season and sharing our top 5 fall favorite looks! Take a look for yourself and then head to our Instagram and tell us which fall detail is your favorite!

1. Nature-Inspired Details

Kate's bridal look was absolutely breathtaking. It was important to Kate to incorporate not only the location of her wedding (Blue Sky Ranch), but also the season into her look. Her Rue de Seine dress reflected the rustic and natural elements of a fall mountain wedding with its fluid fit, nude undertone, and a subtle free-spirited vibe. Kate's makeup artist chose to use golds and light browns to highlight her natural beauty and to tie into her overall desired aesthetic. The florist also tied in the fall season into her bouquet by choosing natural colors and textures that served as an extension of the wild autumn landscape. Finally, Kate topped off her look with a simple, yet elegant crown made of golden fern.

Want to incorporate a specific season into your look? Choose textures and colors that are original to the season and your venue. There are certain flowers and fauna that only can be found during particular seasons and parts of the year, and can provide a sense of nostalgia to your guests. Incorporate these elements into your table scape, invitation suite, and/or attire. Additionally, choose fabrics that coincide well with the general temperatures. For example, velvet lends itself well to a fall or winter affair, while chiffon and silk are perfect for a spring or summer event.

2. Herbal Elements

Fall is a season for feasting and this herbal-inspired editorial incorporates both a fragrant and tasty dining experience! The overall color palette was a beautiful reflection of the changing seasons from summer to fall, the details of this table focus on a true dining experience for guests with all palettes. Each charger included wood-burned imagery of popular herbs, such as lavender, rosemary, thyme, sage, etc., and the look was finished with a fresh clipping of the herb to match the imagery on the charger. These elements added a subtle yet distinct fragrance for an additional sensory experience! We also love the soft, romantic table runner on the exposed wood table as well as the floral which included a mix of both garden style blooms and wild flowers.

Want to include herbs and other natural elements into your table decor? If you keep an herb garden, add a few cuttings to your place settings in the summer months and save the last of the season’s clippings for transitional tablescapes. Don’t forget that large, family-style platters of food can also serve as beautiful table decor, adding a rich detail with pops of beautiful colors, especially when accented with fresh herbs. Don't have your own herb garden? That’s okay! Simply pick up some fresh herbs at your local grocery store or farmer’s market. Many stores also sell organic, edible flowers (such as pansies) that will really take your table and plating to a new level. Then next spring, start your own herb garden. You won't be sorry!

3. Non-Traditional Color Palettes

This stunning fall table is a favorite within the MLE portfolio! What we love most about this table is the unexpected color palette. This table reminds us of what remains after the beautiful and traditional fall colors have faded; once the leaves have fallen you're simply left with the beautiful bare trees against a crisp, vast blue sky. It doesn’t scream fall in a “traditional” sense, but these non-traditional hues and organic elements such as wood, feathers, wicker, and leather, creates a great transition from fall to winter. And we can’t forget to mention our favorite detail: the (real) pumpkins used in the centerpiece and as place cards with donned gold calligraphy.

Want to create an unexpected design with a non-traditional color palette for your fall tablescape? Look for inspiration right outside your window and don't be afraid to try a color palette that might be different than what you're used to. You can also replicate these place cards by taking real or faux mini pumpkins and putting your fourth grade cursive skills to work with a paint pen in your color of choice.

4. Fashion-Forward Details

Sara’s gown was absolutely perfect for a fall wedding! We love that it’s not a traditional white or ivory, but rather a champagne color with an incredible purple underlay! This dress had so many beautiful features and layers to it, which also reminds us of fall and all it’s wonderful moments and changing colors. We adore the colored tulle, the intricate details of the lace flowers that begin on the back and wrap halfway around the waist, and the overall flow of the fabric. Every detail of this dress is simply stunning!

Sara’s makeup was also fashion-forward as her artist created a lightly done smokey-eye with a pop of berry on her lips, a perfect complement to her dress. Sara’s overall look, featuring the perfect tones for a fall wedding, was incredible and one we will not soon forget!

Want to incorporate this look into your fall wedding or Thanksgiving attire? Try a champagne colored bridal gown or a more casual dress in warm tones for an informal occasion and don’t forget a berry or plum lipstick to make your lips pop!

5. Seasonly Classic Colors

Dana and Emmett’s fall wedding featured a gorgeous bold and classic color palette! We love how the deep maroon and soft pink colors found in the flowers are complemented by the bright orange and yellow fall leaves at her venue. You can’t go wrong with a traditional fall look, especially in the mountains of Utah! But what we really love about this wedding is how the bold centerpieces are the featured detail and how they pop against these classic, neutral linens. This elegant wedding is sure to stand the test of time!

Want to incorporate a classic color palette into your big day? Strike a balance between tones by incorporating classic hues with darker shades, providing the eye with direction and a focus.

Fall will forever be a favorite season to celebrate here at MLE. We thoroughly enjoy the variety of colors in this vibrant season and all the intricate details which offer us the opportunity to create exciting designs and seasonal experiences.
