A Safari Themed Baby Shower

Last weekend MLE planner Kara threw the most darling baby shower for her sister Tiffany and we're dying to share all the details with you!

Wanting to venture away from the traditional “blue for boys, pink for girls” baby shower theme, Kara wanted to create something special for this beautiful mama-to-be. Kara used a giraffe, Tiffany's favorite animal, as her inspiration and created a safari themed party that was perfect for this soon-to-be mama.

Palm leaves were the main inspiration for the decor since the location of the party was full of them. The trees were cut just before the event so the palm fronds would be vibrant and fresh for the decor. Real palms were utilized in the decor including white and yellow Lily’s and Red Gladiolus which were incorporated into the centerpieces. Tropical leaves from the floral were wrapped around the inside of each vase adding an extra safari-themed detail and a pop of color against the clear vase.

Festive palm leaf patterned linens and wood bamboo chairs provided the ideal finishing touch to the tables, giving the shower a special jungle safari look and feel. This backyard venue was absolutely charming and created just the right atmosphere for our mama-to-be.

Beverages included a classic margarita and a non-alcholic, watermelon “mom-arita” which coordinated with the overall color theme of the event. In true MLE fashion, Kara couldn't resist colorful drinks that played into the design of the event!

Desserts included adorable mini cupcakes in red velvet, vanilla bean, lemon, and white chocolate raspberry (YUM!) with mini jungle animal toppers in gold. Guests also enjoyed sugar cookies in the shape of leaves and adorable "onesies" with green and gold jungle animal details.

Rather than multiple baby shower games, Kara incorporated a craft station which allowed for more conversation among guests throughout the event. Guests decorated blocks and onesies for Baby Sawyer and played lawn games such as corn hole (repurposed from Tiffany's wedding day) and ping pong. The only game everyone participated in, per request of the dad-to-be, was “Baby Bottle Chug” where guests selected their drink of choice to fill a small baby bottle and then raced against other participants in chugging their bottles down.

In lieu of cards, guests were invited to bring a book for Baby Sawyer's library including a personal note from to baby. Mama and Baby will sure have lots of fun stories to read together!

Some fun facts about Tiffany and Baby Sawyer:

  • The mama-to-be is currently craving watermelon popsicles and hot sauce on everything!

  • Baby Sawyer’s due date is the same date as his paternal grandfather.

  • The bench used as a bookshelf during the shower was borrowed from Tiffany’s co-worker. It went so perfectly with the theme they couldn’t pass it up.

  • Baby Sawyers Middle name (Dean) is a family name from his maternal father and grandfather.

Kara is obviously excited for her nephew to make his big debut and we are so excited for her and her sweet sister! It was delightful assisting these two lovely ladies and we are absolutely crushing on all the details Kara meticulously planned. She most definitely created a safari-savvy shower for sweet Sawyer!

Kara is going to be the best auntie to Baby Sawyer! Speaking of which, we can't wait to see what she has in store for this little guy's first birthday party!
